A Letter to My Students

Dear Students,

I wanted you to know,
If I was gone tomorrow,
You have and will always be more than a name during roll call,
And more than a simple hello in the hall.
You are the blood which flows through my body,
And your beautiful souls are the future I see.
Thank you for the gift you give me every day,
Not necessarily with words you say,
But rather from the joy you show,
As you learn and grow.
Your smiles make my heart warm to the core,
And that has nothing to do with common core!
I love how we laugh and play,
Each and every day.
Thank you for inspiring me,
To be the best teacher I can be.
I will never truly know,
All the places you will go,
But I am grateful I played a little role,
On this educational journey of your soul. 
Thank you for being a part of my journey, too.
You have touched my life just by being you!
Thank you for walking through the door,
Ready to discover and explore.
I promise to encourage, inspire, and care deeply,
And make learning more than a textbook could ever be.
Our passions will come through,
In all that we do.
We will learn alongside each other,
And change education forever!
